WOW! June has gone by fast. We are excited to be welcoming back summer. As we make our way through the end of June, we continue to be humbled by the generosity of our partners and donors. Thank you for your time, your support, and your partnership with us to ensure the end-of-life receives the same beauty, care, and respect as the beginning by making moments matter.
There is less than one week left in the Great Canadian Giving Challenge, where we are raising funds to help support our person-centered care. Thank you to the generosity of our community and NPX for matching every donation made; we have raised $7,154.60. We are only $2,845.40 away from our goal!
Every $1 donated online to Huron Shores Hospice in June earns us a chance to win the $20,000 grand prize from Canada Helps. This year, all funds raised will help support our person-centered care.
Have you ever wondered what person-centered care looks like at Huron Shores Hospice? Please read the blog post below that sets out all the different care options available to our residents from the time they are admitted.
Our goal is to raise $10,000, which means donations to the campaign this month will be matched up to $5000 thanks to the generosity of NPX. Please donate now and help us reach our goal of maximizing the matching sponsorship and DOUBLE your impact. Thank you to all those who have already donated.

Planning for the 2023 Handbags for Hospice event is in full swing and we can't wait to welcome all our guests to our 7th annual event. We are calling on "The Power of the Purse" to raise funds to help sustain our two-bed residential suites.
Tickets will be $65.00 and will go on sale on August 4th, 2023, at 7:30 am. Due to high demand and to make sure it is fair for everyone, we cannot hold tickets in advance.
Sponsorship opportunities for this event are available: We are busy sending out sponsorship requests which will be delivered by the end of this month. Good news to share
Our MPP Lisa Thompson, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs stopped by Huron Shores Hospice to present a cheque to Board Chair, Carol Rencheck, for top-up funding for 2023/24 in the amount of $70,100. We are extremely grateful for this increase in funding bringing the province’s total funding commitment to 38% of our annual budget for 2023/24. This Top Up is part of the investment our government is providing to add more support towards healthcare costs affiliated with hospices across the province. This is not a part of our annual base funding.
Cathy Herbert, Executive Director of Huron Shores Hospice, said “We are very grateful to the Ontario government for their unwavering investment in hospice care. We appreciate the government’s recognition of the mounting inflation pressures and cost increases for clinical services that are impacting our budget. This increase demonstrates the government's understanding of the importance of hospice services in our community. We would like to thank Minister Thompson for tirelessly advocating on our behalf, and assure the government that their additional support will enable us to continue providing exceptional hospice care to those needing our services.”
Furthermore, this top-up funding will help alleviate some of the pressure on our community's fundraising efforts. While we are incredibly grateful for the government's contribution, we still rely on the support of our community. We are seeking assistance in raising $277,000 to cover our entire budget for the year 2023. Your contributions will make an impact and allow us to continue delivering exceptional hospice care.
