Honouring What Matters Most: A Message from Our Assistant Director of Care

Updated: Dec 2

“Home is people, not a place.”

Thanks to the generous support from our community, Huron Shores Hospice embodies this belief, creating a space where individuals at the end of life can feel truly at home. Huron Shores Hospice accomplishes this by not only providing a welcoming physical environment but also a safe and supportive space for our guests and their loved ones.

We understand that each guest’s journey is deeply personal, and our care is tailored to honour their individual goals and beliefs at end-of-life through hospice support. What matters most to our guests is what matters most to our team.

Whether it’s decorating our well-appointed suites with their treasured mementos and photos, welcoming pets, or ensuring loved ones can stay comfortably at their bedside throughout their stay, we are here to make these precious moments meaningful.

The enjoyment of meals shared, cozying up to watch movies, listening to music or simply being soothed by the sounds of those that matter most interacting around them —these are the experiences we nurture to help guests feel at home.

Our compassionate, holistic approach allows loved ones to step back from the caregiving roles they have adopted on the end-of-life journey and return to the fundamental roles only they can provide.

Loved ones can trust that our team will attend to each guest’s needs with care and dignity, so they can focus on connection during these final days.

As a Registered Nurse, I consider it a great privilege and honour to be relied on and trusted to support our guests and their loved ones on this deeply intimate journey. I take great pride in being part of such a beautifully important organization that, with the help of our community, provides comfort, dignity, autonomy, and peace for those in their final days.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Tara Mainland Tudor, RN

Registered Nurse, Assistant Director of Care Tiverton Park Manor (Home of Huron Shores Hospice)

This Giving Tuesday, you can help us continue to provide this vital care.

Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity, and this year, we invite you to join us in supporting Huron Shores Hospice. Your contribution will help us continue offering compassionate care to those at the end of life, ensuring that we can provide comfort and dignity during their final days.

Whether you choose to donate, volunteer, or spread the word, your support makes a difference. Together, we can ensure that individuals facing end of life in our community receive the care, compassion, and connection they deserve.

At the end of life, everyone deserves to feel at home, receiving the same care, beauty, and respect they did at life’s beginning.
